1. How do domain names work?

Registering a domain doesn't automatically make your Web site appear when visitors enter your domain into a Web browser. You have to upload your Web site to a computer that hosts the site and assigns a numeric address, called an IP address, to your domain. Your domain and associated IP address are stored in a database with every other domain and associated IP address. When visitors enter your domain into a Web browser, your domain works like an address forwarding service by forwarding visitors to the IP address where your Web site is stored. We use domain names instead of IP addresses because most people find it easier to remember a name rather than a series of numbers.

When you register a domain, you do not have to create and upload a Web site. You can also treat it as a form of investment, selling domains that you are not using; protect your online brand by preventing others from registering a similar domain to yours; or hold on to it and leave it parked with us while you decide on how best to leverage it.


2. Is it free to sign up?

Yes, it is completely FREE to sign up to SuperRegistration.my. You will receive a suite of domain management tools to assist you in easily and securely managing your domain names.


3. What are types of domain names available?

We currently support the Malaysian domain name types of .my, .com.my, .net.my, .org.my and .name.my. More global domain types will be made available shortly.


4. What are the domain registration requirements?

Only companies incorporated in Malaysia can register .my, .com.my. .net.my and .org.my domain names. For .name.my, you will need to be an individual at least 18 years of age with a valid Malaysian-issued Identification Card or an international passport.


5. How do I register domain names?

First, you will need to do a search to locate domain names of your choice. For each domain name available, you can add it to your Cart. Once you are done, you can proceed to Checkout and make the necessary payments.

If you have not completed your Profile information, you will be requested to do so during the Checkout phase. For companies, you will be required to submit supporting documentation to verify the company's legal status.


6. Can I update the details of my registered domains?

Yes, you can conveniently manage all your domain names and update their details within the Members Area. Changes will be automatically submitted to the corresponding registries.


7. How do I renew my domain names?

You will be notified when your domain names are expiring. You can manually renew it within the Members Area, or utilize our crucial Auto-Renew feature so that your domains will be automatically renewed, relieving you from the worry of losing your precious online brands.


8. What is Domain Parking?

When you park a domain name, a temporary Web page displays when visitors go to your domain. You may want to park your domain to indicate you are reserving it until you create your Web site, find a hosting provider, or sell the domain to a third party.


9. What is Domain Forwarding?

You can forward or mask a domain name to redirect to another domain of your choosing. This is useful if have registered a variation of domain names similar to your main brand that you wish to redirect to the primary site, or if you have yet to create content for the new domain and just want to deliver its traffic to an existing website.


10. What is DNS?

Your DNS or Domain Name Server is the system that allows your Web site to display when users enter a domain in a Web browser. Nameservers are the Internet's equivalent to a phone book; they link the number to the name. The nameserver maintains a directory of domain names that match the IP addresses, or computers. Information from all nameservers on the Internet is compiled in a central registry, making it possible for people across the Internet to access your Web site using domain name.
